Today's world is heavily influenced by mass production and high levels of consumerism. With fast fashion, speedy delivery services, and a constant urge to acquire new materials and products, we are collectively faced with an abundance of waste. However, all of this waste does not magically disappear simply because it's been thrown away.
In New Jersey, low-income and communities of color are disproportionately exposed to the cumulative impacts of waste incinerators, transfer stations, chemical recycling facilities, sewage treatment plants and more. These false solutions fail to protect our most marginalized and vulnerable populations.
Scheduled for Thursday, November 30th, the 2023 NJEJA Waste Justice Assembly aims to explore the relationships between consumerism and waste. The central theme of this conference is "Where does it all come from and where does it all go?" This is a great opportunity for students, professionals, and anyone eager to learn about waste infrastructure alternatives and a just transition toward a waste-free New Jersey.
